Two Chorales from Cantata BWV 140

Two chorales from J. S. Bach’s Cantata BWV 140 (Wachet auf, ruft uns die Stimme) have been arranged for Piano Trio or Piano Quartet by Joseph I. Corporon (ASCAP). Both arrangements are combined into one score for your convenience.

The first chorale, Zion hört die Wächter singen, was originally scored for strings, continuo, and male chorus. The second chorale, Gloria sei dir gesungen, was originally scored for strings, continuo, and mixed chorus.

The two versions of this arrangement both work equally well. When played as a Piano Trio use the Score, Violin, and Violoncello parts. Violoncello  plays the melody in the first chorale, and Violin plays the melody in the second chorale.

When played as a Piano Quartet use the Score, Violin, Viola, and Continuo parts. Viola plays the melody in the first chorale, and Violin plays the melody in the second chorale.

Enjoy!
